By now, you should be hearing steadier tones and at least something that resembles the instrument your child looks up on YouTube! Each class is moving along at a great pace and I am enjoying learning everyone’s personality. This weekend should be full of more steady tones and then a new concept, articulation (or tonguing as it is referred to here). Lines 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9 practice the steady tone and 2, 4, 6, 8 & 10 provide the articulation and changing notes. Encourage your child to show you the fingerings for all of the notes that they have learned and also show you how they can change from one note to another.
Please note that the History of the Instrument project is due on Monday. This was handed out a week ago and hopefully you have heard about it before today! It is a major test grade and students may bring it into the band hall before school if they would like to. Click on the image below for more information.
The first grab bag opportunity for the fundraiser is this Wednesday, September 24th. For 1 – 6 books sold, students will get one grab bag. For 7 – 12 books sold, students will get 2 grab bags. For 13+ books sold, students will get 3 grab bags. Thank you for your help with this, all profit will be used throughout the entire band program.
Have a great weekend!
