Band Booster Minutes – April 6, 2011

 Agenda:

Mr. Katz opened meeting at 6:04 P.M.

  1. UIL Review
  2. Clinic for Symphonic Band – Monday, April 25th Water is needed, but chips are not.  We have plenty!
  3. Sandy Lake Tuesday – May 3rd
    1. 7:30 to 8:30 A.M. Students meet
    2. 8:15 A.M. – parents arrive to help
    3. 9:30 A.M. – band arrives at Sandy Lake
    4. 10:10 A.M. – performance begins
    5. Need 15 parents to chaperone since we have about 150 students in beginners’ band.
  4. Band Parent Meeting Tuesday, May 3rd  [Intended for incoming sixth grade parents and their students]
    1. May have to be changed to another date due to conflict of Multicultural Night at Smith Elementary.
    2. Plan to have ice cream sandwich fixings and slushie machine for students to partake of.
    3. Have one 8th grader per instrument to play a demonstration piece and then go home.
  5. Murchison Thursday, May 5th– Symphonic Band only and will need two to four parents in attendance.
  6. Murchison, Friday, May 6th– All three bands will go to Denton
    1. 4:50 Warm-up
    2. 5:15 P.M. – Concert band
    3. 5:40 P.M. – Honor band
    4. 6:05 P.M. – Symphonic band
  7. Solo and Ensemble Saturday, May 14th
    1. At Wester Middle School
    2. Individual times given for solo and ensemble
  8. Awards for Beginners/ 7th and 8th graders
    1. Chocolate bars (8 oz. variety) – will need fifty or so.
    2. iTunes gift cards
    3. Family video gift cards (RaeAnne will check to see if they’ll donate.)
    4. Plaques – Cougar Pride for students who have made All-Region, I in Solo, I in Ensemble
  9. Board for next year – Brenna will create an email that will be sent out to officially announce vacancies on the Clark MS Band Booster Executive Board.  The draft is to be sent by the end of the week of April 11, 2011.
