Happy New Year!

The winter break was such a relaxing time and I would be lying if I said that waking up Monday was not hard at all!  We have, however, had a wonderful week of rehearsals and have hit the ground running on our road to prepare for the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest in March.  Please note the following announcements and assignments

  • Practice Cards are due, signed by you, every Monday.  Your child received a new practice card this week.  Please review the many dates of the semester with your child, we crossed out the dates that do not apply to the concert band.
  • Sectionals started this week.  You may find the schedule here.  Attendance is required and should your child miss, they need to make it up on another day.
  • The jazz band is performing a concert on Tuesday, January 13th at 6:00 PM.  If your child is participating, they need to be on stage ready to play by 5:30 PM.  Dress is the band t-shirt and either blue jeans or khakis.  The concert should last about 30 minutes.  All are invited to attend!
  • Practice goals for next week are
    • Concert Bb, Eb, Ab and F scales
    • Shepherds Hey at quarter note = 130, focus on lifted notes and consistency
    • Summit Fanfare at quarter note = 110, focus on notes and rhythms

Thanks for all of your support, 2015 will be a great year in the Clark Concert Band!
