Fall Sectionals 2018 – Region Sectionals
Note: This is NOT for beginners…
Sectional Rehearsals:
Sectional rehearsals are a vital part of a quality band program. Small group work with like instruments provides essential individual attention typically not possible with large groups of 50 or more students. All Symphonic, Honor, and Concert Band students are expected to attend at least one 45-minute sectional rehearsal per week for a grade. During these sectionals, students will work on the fundamental skills of their instrument, practice difficult sections of the band music, learn the All-Region music as well as their Solo and Ensemble music. During this time, students may have chair tests to determine their part assignments and receive a grade for that assignment.
Section rehearsal days will be scheduled starting the second full week of school. In order to accommodate all of our students and their busy schedules, our times may need to change with the beginning of each new school sporting event or season. Every attempt will be made to schedule around athletic games and other school activities. You can expect a schedule within the first few days of the beginning of each new season. This is to allow us to collect all of the data regarding student activities and potential conflicts. Sectionals will be either in the morning (either 7:30-8:15am OR 3:45pm – 4:30pm). Percussionists may have additional sectionals and rehearsals throughout the year. Please try to schedule doctors’ appointments, etc. at times that do not conflict with sectional rehearsals. If an unavoidable conflict occurs, please contact us as soon as possible in writing, by email, or by phone. Communication is vital to a successful program.
