You should have heard the sultry tones of a beginner instrumentalist practicing Mary Had a Little Lamb this past week. We are now preparing to play the world famous Go Tell Aunt Rhodie! Practice cards are now full credit time as written at the bottom of their practice cards. Students should be practicing for 20-30 minutes each session.

  • 3 minutes – breathing and buzzing for brass
  • 5 minutes – long tones and tonguing on the home base notes, lip slurs for brass
  • 15 minutes – learning new lines and perfecting them
  • 4-5 minutes – fun time, play your favorite lines
  • 2-3 minutes – long tones for a nice “warm down”

  • The History of the Instrument project was assigned this week and is due October 16th.
