Week Two

Greetings Parents,

Hopefully by now you have been blessed with all kinds of joyful sounds at home. We are already to the point where each instrument will begin to have different assignments; each according to the needs of that particular class. Below I’ve listed the assignments for each class.


Tubas

  • Mouthpieces, B.E.R.P.S., valve oil, band binders go home every day. The students have been asked to acquire a travel/accessory bag to carry those items.
  • Lessons 1-8 from 5 minute theory. We do these exercises at the beginning of each class. Our students should be on lesson 4.
  • Valve series. 0-2-1-1,2-2,3-1,3-1,2,3 ; ask your child to demonstrate this on their instrument.
  • Buzz a steady tone
  • First note on instrument

Euphoniums

  • Mouthpieces, B.E.R.P.S., valve oil, band binders go home every day. The students have been asked to acquire a travel/accessory bag to carry those items.

  • Sirens going up. This one you’ll really like!

Trombones

  • Mouthpieces, B.E.R.P.S., valve oil, band binders go home every day. The students have been asked to acquire a travel/accessory bag to carry those items.
  • Lessons 1-8 from 5 minute theory. We do these exercises at the beginning of each class. Our students should be on lesson 4.
  • First 4 slide positions; ask your child to demonstrate this on their instrument.
  • Buzz a steady tone
  • Sirens. These are fun to hear!

General Announcements

  • Everyone should be practicing 30 minutes each day. Next week: 20 minutes of playing and 10 of non-playing exercises.
  • Practice Cards are due every Monday.
  • All classes have started their History of the Instrument Projects: Due September 16th
