Low Brass Update

What a fun first week. Parents take a moment and acquaint yourself with this post and the newsletter. If you need to add or update your email, you can do so by clicking the subscription preferences link at the bottom of your email newsletter. The low brass classes (trombone, euphonium, & tuba) went very well. Here are some highlights:

General Announcements

  • Private Lesson instructors should have contacted you about lessons. We highly encourage you to enroll your student in lessons. Many students develop much faster under the guidance of a specialist who is a professional on that instrument.
  • Instruments go home every day for practice.
  • Practice Tubas and Euphoniums have been checked out and should be at home.
  • Dance on Friday from 4pm to 5:30pm!!!!
    • We need parent volunteers
  • Each student received a practice card. Practice cards are due on Tuesday next week.
  • Sign up for Remind: text @clarkbb to 469-645-0801
  • Student Handbook Forms are due on Tuesday.
  • Band Handbook Forms were due this Friday.

What we did this week….

  • Checked our supplies
  • Made our musician postures
  • Started our musician faces
  • We can say our music alphabet forwards and backwards (working on speed).
    • ask for a demonstration
  • Learn about the parts of our instruments
  • Started our air-to-buzz

What we will do next week…

  • Start our first sounds: we will be learning how to make a good sound
  • Valve/Slide series
  • Counting whole, half, and quarter notes
  • Playing our first 5 notes.
  • Pitch recognition
