Low Brass Update

Week 2 is drawing to a close and with it we get to dance! The kids have been great and wonderful to work with. Here are this weeks highlights: and announcements.

General Announcements

  • We highly encourage you to enroll your student in lessons before space runs out. Many students develop much faster under the guidance of a specialist who is a professional on that instrument.
  • Instruments go home every day for practice. Practice time is still limited to 15 -20 minutes.
  • Each student received a practice card. Practice cards are due on Monday, September 8th. Please sign the practice card Sunday evening.
  • Sign up for Remind: text @clarkbb to 469-645-0801
  • Student Handbook Forms are due on Tuesday.
  • Band Handbook Forms were due this Friday.

What we did this week….

  • Worked on our air-to-buzz
  • Started our first sounds
  • Practiced putting our instruments together and taking them apart
  • Learned basic maintenance of our instruments
  • Identified parts of our instruments
  • Practiced our music alphabet forward and backward starting on any letter
  • Identified music symbols
  • Learned and demonstrated our Valve/Slide series (down and up)
  • Turned in our theory books for a daily grade on work completed

What we will do next week…

  • We will take a quiz on note names and parts of our instruments
  • We will play our first 5 notes
  • We will continue practicing our valve/slide series, working for speed
  • We will work on making a good sound
  • Students should be practicing for 15-20 still. You should listen for steady, long held tones at home.
