Spring is in the Air

Springtime is upon us!  Birds are singing, bees are buzzing and my allergies are definitely telling me that spring is here…   Despite all the coughing and sneezing though, we are getting a lot of stuff done in class.  After our superior performance at UIL, we have taken a step back and are reviewing our fundamentals with scales, scales and more scales.  Hopefully you have been hearing lots of scale practice at home.  We are still playing music, but a good portion of our time is being spent on perfecting the scales.   Please note the following announcements

  • Our next performance will be at the Peak Music Festival, held at the Murchison Performing Arts Center on the UNT Campus.  The concert band will perform on Saturday, May 2nd at 8:30 in the morning.  We will meet at Clark at 6:30 (I am so sorry!) but we will have breakfast for the kids that morning.  After we perform, we will be taking the students to Main Event in Frisco.  You will receive more information on that later.
  • Solo and ensemble contest will be held at May 9th at Hunt Middle School.  All eligible students will be participating.  Your child has received a solo for this event. Please ask them to play it for you so they can begin to get into performance mode. More information will be given as we get closer to the event.
  • Practice cards are due on Monday, signed by you.
