We had a great first week and I look forward to what is to come. Please make note of the following announcements.
Announcements
- Handbook form was due by Friday, August 28th
- School Instrument Contracts (euphoniums and tubas) were also due this past Friday, August 28th
- Practice Card is due on Monday, August 31st
- Students are expected to practice on only for 15 minutes at a time this weekend.
- Private Lessons are strongly encouraged. Sign-up now before all of the available time are filled
- The Annual Fall Dance is next Friday, September 4th from 4:00pm – 5:30pm. Tickets are $5.
- Volunteers for the dance must have an approved background check and must come to school before Friday to scan their driver’s license.
What We Did This Week
In your child’s practice time, they should only be doing these things during their 15 minute practice sessions. Please encourage them to remain patient as we are learning all of these basic items. They are so filled with excitement and energy that they want to get right to playing songs (I don’t blame them). But first things first.
- We are learning the names of the parts of the instrument
- We are working on putting our instrument together
- We are learning our note names and recognizing symbols
- We are learning how to breathe as a musician
