6th Grade
- Our snare drum and marimba quizzes began this week. Potential quiz lines are marked with a Q on the practice cards.
- Practice cards are due Monday signed by you
- Please make sure your student has all of their supplies. Snare sticks, Marimba mallets (yarn or rubber), marimba, snare and marimba books, and band binder. They need to bring these items to class every day in order to be successful.
- Students should spend equal times practicing marimba and snare drum remembering to work on technique (muscle training) as well as music reading (brain training)
- Fundraiser collection date: 10/26. Final turn-in Nov. 2. Orders must be collected with payment for students to receive prizes and grab bags. Click here for fundraising instructions.
7th Grade and 8th Grade
- All region is quickly approaching, we have roughly 7 rehearsals left until audition phase 1 – not including sectionals. Please make sure you are practicing full runs on the instruments, focusing on dynamics and note accuracy. Remember to practice your 2 octave scales including chromatic, and sight reading.
- All Region Clinic tomorrow Saturday, October 24th 10-noon. It will be very helpful to the students. Please let Mr. Katz know if you have a conflict.
- Sectionals are every week. Please remind your child to be in the band hall by 7:20 or 3:40pm. A student can make up a missed sectional on any other day a sectional is held. You check the sectional schedule here.
