Percussion – Week 17

6th Grade

Begin preparing for your next Pass off! (Due next grading period, tbd)

  • Snare drum
    • Lesson 7 Coordination Exercise (dotted half note) @ 90 bpm
    • Lesson 8 Rudimental Etude #6 @ 80 bpm
  • Marimba
    • ALL 12 MAJOR SCALES! @ 100 bpm, 3 beats of rest in between
      • Memorize your scale order! C F Bb Eb Ab Db Gb B E A D G

Remember to always start your practice sessions with technique exercises just like we do in class! The more often you practice these, the easier everything else will be. Clock your own best tempos and compare them to the class tempo!

7th and 8th Grade

Announcements

  • Sectionals have resumed. Check the schedule here. **Symphonic band percussion sectionals have been changed to Monday after school
  • Practice Card is due on Monday, January 11th
  • One more week to the end of the grading period. Outside of practicing, students should be focusing on bringing up their grades in ALL classes to their highest level.
  • Students should be practicing their solos for the snare soiree! They will be performing in front of students from Wester MS and Centennial HS.
