Beginner Clarinet, Flute and Saxophone — Week #30

Upcoming events:

Tuesday, April 24th & Thursday, April 26th – (3:40 – 5:00pm) – After School Rehearsals

  • After school combined band practice.  This is our only chance to meet as a whole band.
  • Failure to attend one or both practices may result in a failing grade for the marking period, forfeit of Sandy Lake Band Contest entry, and possible removal from the program.  These have been on the calendar all year.  Please plan accordingly.

Friday, April 27th — Sandy Lake Band contest

  • All eligible students are expected to attend.
  • We are meeting in the band hall 1st period.
  • Do not bring your backpacks to school

Wednesday, May 2nd — Beginner Spring Concert – 6:00 PM

  • All students are expected to attend regardless of eligibility
  • Failure to attend may result in a failing grade for the marking period and possible removal from the program.  This has been on the calendar all year.  Please plan accordingly.

Thursday, May 24th — Band Party – 4:00 – 6:30 PM

  • More details to come

Monday, June 4th – Hurricane Harbor

  • This trip is optional
  • You may pay online here or send a check with your child. Please be sure to put your child’s name in the memo section.

Practice cards are due on Tuesday, April 24th

  • Students are not required to practice, but they are required to take them home

      • Scales — F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, C, G, D (Level 2)
      • Vibrato on all music
      • Imperium (85% of music mastered)
    • Clarinets
      • Chromatic Full Range ascending & descending
      • Scales — F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, C, G, D (Level 2)
      • Imperium (85% of music mastered)
    • Saxophones 
                Chromatic Full Range ascending & descending
      • Scales — F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, C, G, D (Level 2)

      • Imperium (95% of music mastered)
  • Review 5 minute Theory 1-15
  • Students should be practicing each day for 20 – 30 minutes at a time.
  • Students should continue to practice the music alphabet . We have a few online resources to help you practice:
